The Nouveaux Honkies at the Depot - Saturday, September 30th

For hard- traveling Americana duo The Nouveaux Honkies, the road is literally their home, as the two live out of a creatively rebuilt RV that they use to tour throughout the year in the American South. Tim O’Donnell’s whiskey-tinged vocals are a perfect match for Rebecca Dawkins’ glorious harmonies and soaring fiddlin'.

The two of them can sound as charming as an old-school country duet like Parton and Wagoner, or as bittersweet as that old recording of Townes Van Zandt and Emmylou Harris. With influences from Jimmy Webb to Jimi Hendrix, The Nouveaux Honkies’ music jumps easily between genres, mixing up a bubbling Americana gumbo of blues, country, roots, R&B, Texas swing, honky-tonk and old-fashioned songwriting.

Check out their rendition of All Along the Watchtower.

Steel City Jug Slammers at the Depot - Saturday, November 4th

Steel City Jug Slammers

Birmingham's Steel City Jug Slammers bring audiences a unique experience and time-tripping begins as soon as the band takes center stage. From their appearance to their instruments and old-time Southern banter, the Jug Slammers have all the charm of traveling music show from earlier times. They'll grab your attention and keep it from the first blow of the jug 'til the last pluck of the tub bass string.
Ramblin' Ricky Tate, Washtub Jay, and Maxwell Honeycup make up the Steel City Jug Slammers and revel in bringing authentic jug music to venues large and small. Their roots reach back to the Tate brothers' travels with bands. After meeting railroad-traveling musician Stumps the Clown, they were inspired by his music, clothes, and stage persona. Soon after, the brothers picked up a washboard and the Steel City Jug Slammers began.
In 2015, they won the Minneapolis Battle of the Jug Bands. They've been featured on NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion" and will soon have a "Tiny Desk" session.
