Welcome

The South by Southeast Music Feast is a local non-profit/charitable organization formed in 2003
by a group of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area music lovers and educators
to preserve and promote American music not usually heard in traditional venues.

Our mission is to provide assistance and support to local music education programs with our goal
to offset some costs associated with the musical education of young people in our area.
In this time of budget cuts and strangulation of funding for the arts,
our goal is to help young people in their pursuit of the joys of music.

"And, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."

Randall Hill, Sun-News musicologist/photographer, has put together a very cool
3-part video blog about our big guy Jeff. Check it out.

Sol Driven Train in Concert, April 17th

Saturday, April 17th, Sol Driven Train will bring some southern blues, rock and swamp funk to the Myrtle Beach Train Depot.

The band has shared billing with a diverse array of artists including Richie Havens, Keller Williams, Arlo Guthrie, and the Blueground Undergrass. Extremely active, they play an average of 150 shows a year and have managed to indepedently cut and distribute three albums, including one children's album.

With a strong horn section, driving rhythm section, and talented guitar and vocals, this Charleston based quintet has been successfully building a fan base everywhere they perform. The band features Wes Powers on drums, Rusty Cole on bass, Joel Timmons on guitar and vocals, Ward Buckheister on trombone and vocals, and Russell Clarke on sax and vocals.

It's gonna be a hot night at the Depot so be there early and be prepared to rock!

Kevin Gordon in Concert, August 14th

Kevin Gordon will be singing the blues at the August South by Southeast Music Feast at the historic Myrtle Beach Train Depot.

Over the course of twenty years of writing, recording and touring, Kevin Gordon has built an impressively consistent catalog of songs, a critically acclaimed stack of albums, and a reputation for dynamic live performances that make first-time listeners life-long fans.

His current CD, "o Come Look at the Burning", climbed to the top 10 of the Americana radio chart and continues to receive significant airplay on XM/Sirius satellite radio. Playboy magazine says, "(this album) may be the least classifiable of the (Nashville Underground) lot, but perhaps the best, with a strange assortment of swamp rock, blues and literate lyrics."

Gordon's songs have been recorded by Keith Richards, Levon Helm, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes, Irma Thomas, Webb Wilder, Kate Campbell, and others. His recordings have been featured in major motion picture soundtracks and in national advertising campaigns.*
